We all have struggles with motivation. I notice it the most when it comes to exercise. I know it’s good for me. I know it will make me feel better, but that doesn’t always mean I want to do it.
Whether it’s exercise, schoolwork, chores or practicing an instrument, we all feel like we just don’t want to do it sometimes.
Finding the motivation within ourselves comes easy for some, but not everyone feels that way.
Here are some tips I found to help me motivate myself. I hope they work for you too.
Just Start
Put on your gym clothes, because then you might as well go. Make your bed, because then why not clean your room? It doesn’t work every time, but often breaking the pattern is all it takes.
Change Your Setting
This can be as simple as getting out of bed or as big as driving to nature.
Sometimes, we get stuck and moving away physically can help us get out of that mindset.
Write Down What You Want
Write what you want to do in pen and put it somewhere where you will see it. This can help make your goal feel more solid and achievable. Looking at your own plan enough will make you want to do it, even if it’s just to be able to cross it off of the paper!
Now these may not work for everyone, but they do help me. Next time it all feels impossible, give one of these tips, or even all three, a try. A little motivation couldn’t hurt.
